Services to the farmers and their association

Cambodian farmers' major concern is the lack of profitable market where to sell their product. Traditionally, products are bought at the farm by local traders and sold on local markets. These products are in direct competition with Vietnamese or Thai products that dictate the market price. Due to the lack of infrastructures and because Cambodian farmers usually own small-scale farms, production costs in Cambodia are often higher than in neighbouring countries. Therefore it is difficult for Cambodian farmers to compete with foreign imports.

Marketing

FarmLink supports the Cambodian farmers to diversify their market and develop access to more profitable sources of income.
The core service that FarmLink offers these farmers is marketing and promotion for their products.
Often however, the industry must be reorganized in order to complete or strengthen the commodity chain from the farmers to the end user and maximise farmers' profits.

Associations

To that end, FarmLink helps the producers to organize associations and cooperatives who become reliable partners that can guarantee the quantity, the quality and the homogeneity of the supply.

Production

Market price is not the only factor that determines farmers' incomes. Often, farms productivity is very low due to the lack of infrastructures and to farming techniques that could be improved.

Finding financial partners for the farmers' associations, introducing new farming techniques, providing machineries are part of FarmLink's strategy to maximize farms' productivity.
